The $25,000 Model 2/Q—a long-rumored urban compact—is unlikely to reach production. Tesla prioritized trimmed Standard Model 3 and Model Y trims and bet on Robotaxi/Cybercab as the affordable mobility path (Not a Tesla App).
The “Standard” strategy
The entry Model 3 starts at $36,990 in the U.S.—far from the $25,000 threshold. In Europe, Tesla sells an optional third row on the Juniper Y (+€2,500), but the community expects the six-seat Model Y L as the real family solution (Electrek).
Platform lives on in Cybercab
Earlier reports suggest Model 2 engineering may live on in the Cybercab platform. Musk has argued a robotaxi would make a $25,000 consumer car irrelevant. With next-gen FSD hardware in the Cybercab, hitting that price remains a manufacturing challenge.
Renders and community memory
Enthusiasts like @DominicBRNKMN share Model 2/Q concept renders inspired by the Juniper Model Y, recalling years of earnings-call questions that no longer get an affirmative answer from Tesla.
